VLC Beta for Google Android is a nice and simple free open source media player which can playback most video and audio file formats in Google Android. VLC Beta for Android is made by the same software developers as VLC for Desktop based operating systems like Windows, Linux, and Apple Mac OS X. It is also available for Apple iOS. VLC for Android is still in Beta, so it is not totally stable, or complete, but in my experience it works pretty well as an easy to use media player for Google Android.
One of the main advantages of VLC Media Players is that it can play almost all known video, and audio music files without the need to download and install an extra media file codec or plug-in program or app. It’s file size is smaller, and performance is also faster than most default media players which came with my tablet, and Windows computer. VLC also rarely crashes, freezes, or breaks when I use it.
VLC is also free, and does not come bundled with bloatware, ads, sponsored content, or unwanted add-ons which can slow down your device, and make it less stable or safe to use.
It is also one of the few totally free media players which does not force you to upgrade to a paid version or pay for an in-app purchase to unlock all features, or make you view ads.
VLC is also works with many operating systems like Google Android, iOS, Windows, Linux based operating systems like Ubuntu, Linux Mint, and Fedora, so you can continue using VLC media player on other devices with different operating systems.
I use VLC Beta on Google Android Lollipop 5.03 on my ASUS Google Nexus 7 2012 with a Nvidia Tegra 3 chip. VLC Media player works pretty well in my experience when I use it for playing video and audio files on my tablet. It is pretty easy to use, and VLC also rarely crashes, or slow down even when playing back 1080P video on it. Video files open in seconds in VLC.
Playing back music in a folder is pretty simple. I can skip music tracks, or go back a track with the notification icon for VLC. The audio quality is pretty good in VLC. There are no slowdown problems like skipping when playing audio files. It also can display album clipart in VLC when an MP3 is playing.
VLC plays most video and sound file types like MP4, MKV, MOV, DivX, MP3, AVI, WMV, WMA, etc, and media streams like MMS, HTTP from the internet or a home network. It is possible to view video in best fit, fill vertical, fill horizontal, 4:3, 16:9, and center video viewing modes. It has a file library explorer built-into VLC. The File Explorer also has a search engine to make browsing and finding media files easier. There are also thumbnails for each video file to make finding video files simpler, and faster.
In the menu of VLC, you can make VLC only show video, and audio files in the File Explorer, or show all media files.
It works on devices with ARMv6, ARMv7, MIPS and x86 CPU+GPU/System on a Chip. VLC can run on Google Android 2.1 and up. VLC also has support for a secondary display.
It supports Subtitles including embedded and external, including ASS and DVD subtitles. VLC also supports Multi audio or subtitles tracks selection for voice dubs.
Multi-Core video decoding, and full hardware decoding acceleration is also supported.
VLC Media file also has an audio equalizer, touch finger gestures for brightness, and audio level.
There is also a sleep timer, playback speed, and seek time features.
Most of the standard media players like next track, previous track, seek bar, play, pause, stop, auto-resume, sub titles, album clip art, etc is supported in VLC Beta for Android.
It also comes with a widget which has audio control, supports audio headsets control, cover art and a complete audio media library.
VLC Beta also has no advertising like banner and pop up ads.
VLC Beta for Google Android is a fast, simple to use, stable, and feature rich media player for Google Android. It’s best feature is that it can play almost any video and music file type that exists.
